Mickey Rourke Apologizes for Dissing His Film, Megan Fox: ‘I Don’t Know Why I Said that Stupid Shit’

Mickey Rourke doesn’t handle PR like most other actors do: The Oscar-nominated star of The Wrestler has a tendency to speak his mind and march to the beat of his own drummer, even when it gets him in trouble. Still, more than a few eyebrows were raised when, at a screening of Scream 4 this week, he told Vulture that his upcoming film Passion Play was a “terrible movie” and smirked about his once-effusive praise of co-star Megan Fox as “the best actress I’ve ever worked with.” Other stars might have erroneously claimed to be misquoted — as Chloë Sevigny once did when she bashed a season of Big Love — but Rourke is owning up to his comments and making amends to Fox and Passion Play director Mitch Glazer.

Said Rourke to Vulture, yesterday:

“Hey, guys. When I talked to you, I was at a party. It was loud and crowded, I was in a shitty mood and I was trying to get rid of your reporter. Mitch is one of my best friends since we were kids. I loved working with him and would do it again tomorrow. I don’t know why I said that stupid shit. I love Mitch, I love Megan. My bad.”
