Dear Amy:

It’s me, Auctioning Agent in New York. Remember my letter last week, asking for your advice on a book proposal I was trying to sell — a memoir by Amy Dickinson, advice columnist for the Chicago Tribune? Well, things seem to have worked out great, as word in publishing circles is that the memoir, The Mighty Queens of Freeville: A Mother, a Daughter and the People Who Raised Them, was just purchased by editor Gretchen Young at Hyperion. And not just purchased — purchased with a vengeance, in a two-book North American rights deal (for the memoir and a novel) worth over $4 million, people are saying. (How much over $4 million? My lips are sealed.)

Anyways, thought you’d like to know!
