Self-referential art at its finest: Warhol pulls a Cindy Sherman, playing the role of deranged starlet for celebrity-photog extraordinaire Christopher Makos. The photos, on view at Yancey Richardson through this weekend, are the product of a two-day, 1981 collaboration between the artists that resulted in nearly 350 demure, provocative, twisted, and convincing shots of Warhol in drag. Though not the most uplifting images in the world (photos like this one tend to read like the last chapter of a Marilyn biography), we’re fairly certain he could have at least scored a decent gig at Lucky Cheng’s. —Rachel Wolff
