The Flaming Lips Write Most Nonsensical Song Yet

Photo: Scott D. Smith / Retna

1. The Flaming Lips, "The Tale of the Horny Frog"
"Hey Wayne Coyne, we made this movie starring Ben Stiller and some fart jokes — want to write us a song?" "Sure, how about a song about a randy amphibian?" (At least we think that's how this song from The Heartbreak Kid soundtrack happened.) [Stereogum]

2. The Gossip, "Careless Whisper" (Wham! cover)
Against all odds, this is actually pretty excellent. [Music Slut]

3. Ween, "The Party"
What with its suave grooves and inexplicable references to tri-color pasta and "succulent juices," Ween's latest song veers dangerously close to sounding like the soundtrack to an Andy Samberg digital short. In other words, it's awesome. [Stereogum]

4. Little Brother feat. Lil Wayne, "Break My Heart"
Can you imagine how much easier life would be for rap bloggers if computer keyboards came with a "feat. Lil Wayne" key? Inventors — get on this. [Nah Right]

5. Black Kids, "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You"
Despite the fact that they're just another peppy, twee band with a singer who sounds like he's doing a bad Robert Smith impression, Black Kids are described by this blog as "Florida's new indie-crunk champs." We don't quite hear it. [Butter Team]
