‘I’m Fucking Matt Damon’ Wins an Emmy!

At Saturday’s shamefully non-televised Creative Arts Primetime Emmys ceremony — an awards show that every year sounds more and more fun than the boring, televised Primetime Emmys ceremony — Sarah Silverman picked up her first-ever statue for her hilarious, YouTube-conquering song “I’m Fucking Matt Damon,” a winner in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category. But it was a bittersweet win, of course, as the song was written for her ex-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel, with whom she split two days before her nomination was announced: “To the person for whom this was made, Jimmy Kimmel, who broke my heart … oops … I mean, who will always have a place in my heart,” she said in her acceptance speech.

The big winners overall were John Adams, which took home eight awards, and Mad Men, which won in hairstyling, art direction, cinematography, and main title design categories, boding well for its chances at next Sunday’s real Emmys. Also, Tim “Dorf” Conway bested a bunch of other 30 Rock cameo-makers for the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series statue.

Clearly, though, the big news is “I’m Fucking Matt Damon,” which hilariously succeeds “Dick in a Box” in the best music and lyrics category. What kind of lesson is this teaching America’s young songwriters? And which dick-related tune will reign supreme at next year’s Creative Arts Emmys? We can’t wait to find out!
