Emmy Producers Say Out With Variety, in With Voice-over

We've already established that the Emmys have Oscar envy, as they are adding a slot for a sixth nominee in the major categories and have taken an "anything you can do, we can do better" approach to planning next year's show. Not content that they've nailed the magic formula yet, the Academy of TV Arts & Sciences announced yesterday that it's dropped the Emmy Award for outstanding variety- or music-program performance and has added one for outstanding voice-over performance. Hopefully, this means that Don Pardo will finally get some long-overdue props. [Variety]
