Jack Black and Michael Cera appear as Andy Samberg’s “parents” in a very funny promo spot for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, which will be hosted by Samberg on May. The comedic conceit of the bit is very strong, but we’re not sure how well it works as an advertisement for the event when you consider that all the laugh lines are coming from the two stars who are not hosting the show. Could it be that MTV got cold feet about hiring Samberg for the gig, even though he is presumably quite popular with their target demographic? Or are we reading too much into this, and it’s nothing more than an amusing skit with Samberg doing a good job as a baby-talking straight man? You be the judge — the clip is after the jump.
