Will Michael Jackson’s Tour Be an Unofficial Sequel to High School Musical?

Sort of! More and more details are emerging about the King of Pop’s big comeback tour, which is set to kick off in July (that is, provided the lawyers don’t ruin it for all of us). We already know that he is planning to duet with Prince (his son, not the one you’re thinking of) and that the stage will be some sort of menagerie-like wonderland, but now comes word that the whole production will be run by the man who made Zac Efron a big, bright shining star. Kenny Ortega, who is described by the Los Angeles Times as being “the force behind the movie Dirty Dancing and the High School Musical series,” has agreed to direct and design the show. Ortega has previously worked with Jackson on both the Dangerous and HIStory tours, so it goes without saying that he knows the cardinal rule about working with the eccentric entertainer: Nobody puts Jacko in the corner.
