Wow! The Walt Disney Company just announced plans to acquire Marvel for $4 billion, which means the entertainment conglomerate will soon own Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, and the X-Men (including Wolverine — see above), along with 5,000 less exciting characters who will presumably all soon be the focus of their own movies (commence fantasy casting for the Hypno-Hustler and Paste-Pot-Pete!). What does any of this mean? Who knows! We'd imagine this will keep licensing lawyers busy for approximately the next thousand years, and could even spell good things for the previously near-dead Spider-Man musical, assuming Disney has another spare billion dollars to cover its budget. Developing!
