We were just as surprised as anyone when we learned Fox had decided to renew Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse for a second season. After all, the show suffered through an atypically bumpy preproduction process, and when it finally hit the airwaves last winter, it was neither a critical nor ratings smash. However, when Whedon and star Eliza Dushku presented the unaired episode “Epitaph One” to a group of rabid fans at Comic-Con, it received a stirring response from fanboys and critics alike and gave the show a much-needed boost as it headed into its second season. However, we’ll admit this just-released promo image, which bears a striking resemblance to a certain sci-fi staple starring a wildly expressive actor, gives us the slightest bit of pause. Don’t get us wrong, we’re really excited to see where this series goes from here, but, at the same time, we sincerely hope the first episode next season doesn’t have any plot points involving red or blue pills.
