Roman Polanski Loses Appeal Bid in Swiss Courts

A Swiss court has rejected Roman Polanski's appeal to be freed from jail, where he is currently awaiting possible extradition to the United States on charges that he unlawfully had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl back in 1977. Ministry spokesman Folco Galli explained the decision thusly: "We continue to be of the opinion that there is a high risk of flight." Why, whatever would've given them that impression? [AP]
