We were expecting PETA to bring its full fury down on John Irving following New York's expose of the novelist's brutal baseball-bat bludgeoning of a porcupine inside his three-car garage, but we heard only crickets — until today. We're told by a reliable source that Irving was confronted by a measly two porcupine-abuse protesters on his way out of a Kansas City hotel, and that there was no fake blood, quill attacks, or anything of that sort.
