Silly Grammy Nominations Announced

They’re here! Last night at a CBS-televised concert special (you missed nothing), the nominations for the 2010 Grammys were announced! The big unsurprising winners: Beyoncé and Taylor Swift with ten and eight nods, respectively. Blessedly, Kanye will be on hand to thwart any Taylor-honoring, since he’s up for five awards, as are Maxwell and the Black Eyed Peas. Also, because she was ineligible for Best New Artist and there is still no category for impractical-outfit-wearing, Lady Gaga was nominated in five other ones. Inexplicably shafted were Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson (we didn’t figure the fact that he hasn’t released anything since 2001 would hurt him this year). Also surprising was the unprecedented omission of a token decrepit old person in the Album of the Year category, which we assume means they’ll just give the stupid thing to Taylor Swift. The major categories, after the jump.
