Banksy to Make Surprise Sundance Debut

Hey, this is exciting. A documentary possibly directed by the elusive British vandal Banksy will get a surprise premiere at Sundance on Sunday. Exit Through the Gift Shop, “the world’s first street art disaster movie,” according to its trailer, features footage of the artist at work, and will include cameos by his fellow troublemakers Shepard Fairey and the Invader. According to a press release: “Exit is the story of how an eccentric French shop keeper and amateur filmmaker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results.” Also: “It’s the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed.” The trailer seems to imply that the dude pictured at right is Banksy, although who knows. It’s possible that he’ll actually attend the premiere, too, as the artist has already apparently defaced a building in Park City.
