Polanski Requests Sentencing in Absentia


House-arrested director Roman Polanski — currently awaiting a decision on whether he'll be extradited to the U.S. — has asked that a Los Angeles judge sentence him in absentia, where we understand he owns another chalet. Polanski's lawyers are seeking a quick ruling on the request, "because a potential witness, who was not named, might soon become less readily available to the court." [NYT]
