Barbara Walters announced today on The View that this year’s edition of her annual Oscar night Special will be the last.
"ABC has asked me to keep doing these specials as they have been so successful — and I'm thrilled we have such great stars and have such a wonderful show. But to be honest, I feel like I've 'been there, done that,'" Walters said.
In the 29 years since the first Special in 1981, Walters has interviewed a range of big names, including Tom Cruise, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney and Elizabeth Taylor. This year, Walters will chat with Oscar nominees (and front runners) Sandra Bullock and Mo’Nique.
No word yet on if the Oscar Special will continue with a different host, but you just know Ryan Seacrest is breathlessly checking his Blackberry every few seconds tonight.
