John Grisham Is Writing Lawyer Books for Kids Now

Penguin has announced that John Grisham, best-selling author of over twenty books, is getting into the 8–12 demographic:

“The first in the series, which will be published in May by Penguin Young Readers Group, is called “Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer” and features the 13-year-old eponymous character, the son of two attorneys in a small Southern town.”

Somewhere, a writer for The Onion is balling up a piece of paper and angrily tossing it into the trash, right? But you know, maybe the Grish is onto something! Here are some suggested copycat titles for other best-selling writers who want to follow Grisham’s lead and spin their own favorite themes off into the children’s market.

Danielle Steel’s Seraphina Skye: Kid Gold Digger
Nora Roberts’s Montana Lynn: Kid Slut
Patricia Cornwell’s Katie-Sue Scarpetta: Kid Coroner
Sarah Palin’s Bricklyn Pale: Kid Who Goes Rogue
Patricia Highsmith’s (posthumous) Tommy Ripley: Gay Kid Murderer
Jon Krakauer’s Kid With a Serious Death Wish
Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin’s Skinny Bitch Kid
Elizabeth Gilbert’s Lizzie Bali: Kid Who Doesn’t Want to Get Married
Malcolm Gladwell’s Sebastian Buckley: Kid Explainer of the Obvious
Sue Grafton’s K Is for Kid Suicide
