Stop Asking Christina Hendricks to Play Your Mom

In this week's magazine, Mad Men's Christina Hendricks tells New York's Amy Larocca she's tired of discussing her curves ("I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body!"), so we certainly hope Marco Grob's cover photo of the actress wearing underwear as outerwear will be the final word on the subject. Nearly as annoying for the actress, we're sure, is that she's regularly asked to audition for roles as moms of characters she's too young to have plausibly delivered (she's only 34, casting directors!): "The way we dress on Mad Men is so associated with old photographs, with people's parents and grandparents," she tells New York. "In person, I wear jeans and flip-flops and people are so shocked. They tell me I look so much younger than they expected." If it would mean an end to this madness, we're all for instituting casual Fridays at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce.
