Up Wins the Annie

Up took home the award for best animated feature at the 37th annual Annie Awards last night, further solidifying its status as the favorite for the Academy Awards. Peter Docter also won for best director. (Unrelated: here is a link to a photo of an adorable real-life version of Russell from Up.) Both Coraline and The Princess and the Frog bested Up with three awards, but its the top prize that tends to predict the Oscar winner for best animated feature. But lest Pixxar start counting its awards before they hatch, they should know that in 2009 Kung Fu Panda beat out Wall-E, proving that in this mixed up world of ours, anything at all can happen.
