Young Victoria, Parnassus Take Costume Guild Awards

The Oscar race for Best Costume Design is heating up, you guys. One of the few competitive races still out there, tonight’s Costume Designers Guild Awards seemingly narrowed the field down to a two-horse race. Two-time Oscar winner Sandy Powell took the prize for excellence in period film costuming for The Young Victoria, while Monique Prudhomme nabbed the award for best fantasy film costuming for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Powell also took home the Lacoste Career Achievement in Film Award tonight, making her the Meryl Streep of this race, if you will, to Prudhomme’s upstart Bullock. [HR]
