Deadline’s Mike Fleming reports that New Line has scheduled a summer start date and begun searching for a director for A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, the third movie in the popular marijuana-glorifying comedy series, with an eye on a holiday release in 2011 or 2012 — this despite Kal Penn’s current job as associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and ostensible commitment to serving America. Also, says Fleming, they’re “seriously considering” doing the movie in 3-D, which actually makes sense for once, given the target demo. Obama probably isn’t happy about this, but we bet Penn fans Sasha and Malia are thrilled.
