Lorne Michaels Open to More of Your Suggestions

Discussing the recent successful Facebook campaign to get Betty White a gig hosting the May 8 episode of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels says his only hesitation was over her oldness: “The show’s so grueling, just running from set to set and costume changes and all that. I had to find a way to make it fun for her." So he also invited Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, intending to make it a group-hosted "Women of Comedy" episode, before relenting and giving her her own show: “Pardo’s 92,” he tells ArtsBeat. “A couple people in wardrobe are older than him. So [White]’s a spring chicken in our world." Michaels also says he's open to booking more Facebook-suggested hosts. “Without question,” he said, “if it was somebody we wanted.” As such, the May 15 episode will be hosted by that pickle with more fans than Nickelback.
