Michael Bay Won’t Sell Out for Non-Excellent 3-D

Consummate artist Michael Bay tells Deadline’s Mike Fleming today that he’s skeptical of the after-the-fact process of converting 2-D movies to 3-D, even though dimensionalizing Transformers 3 would pump up its box office (Paramount is pressuring him to do so, since there’s not enough time between now and T3’s 2011 release date to do it in real 3-D): “Right now, it looks like fake 3-D, with layers that are very apparent. You go to the screening room, you are hoping to be thrilled, and you’re thinking, huh, this kind of sucks. People can say whatever they want about my movies, but they are technically precise, and if this isn’t going to be excellent, I don’t want to do it.” [DHD]
