The Libertines to Reunite for Tons of Money

This news comes from England and concerns Pete Doherty, so take it with a big grain of crack, but all indications are that the Libertines will reunite this summer to headline the Reading and Leeds festival (the lineup will be officially announced tonight). Doherty and his former co–front man Carl Barât haven’t performed together with bassist John Hassall and drummer Gary Powell in six years, but the Guardian’s sources say all parties agreed to the gig for the small price of £1.5 million (about $2.3 million). Pete is also currently facing charges stemming from the heroin death of a 27-year-old filmmaker, so there’s really no telling where he’ll be in August. But as one of Earth’s few people who continued to enjoy his solo work even as he made a sport of getting arrested and not showing up for concerts, we totally hope this happens.
