Hulu Reportedly to Launch Paid Subscriber Service

Hulu, which now ranks second only to YouTube in monthly video streams in the U.S., will begin testing a subscriber service as soon as May 24, according to the Los Angeles Times. While the five most recent episodes of most TV series would still be available for free, a new service called Hulu Plus would allow viewers to see additional episodes of shows for a fee of $9.95 per month. Hulu, which has generated more than $100 million in revenue from advertising in the two years since its launch, has not commented on the plans. [Company Town/LAT]
