Suge Knight Sues Kanye West for Club Attack, Lost Earring

Hip-hop impresario Suge Knight is suing Kanye West and Miami’s the Shore Club for lax security at a VIP party held prior to the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, where he was shot by an unidentified assailant. The lawsuit has been in the works for years now, but a trial is now set for early December in Miami. The strangest detail of this story, aside from Knight’s insistence that West should have been prepared for violence resulting from the seemingly dormant East Coast/West Coast rap feuds of the nineties, is his claim to the loss of a fifteen-carat diamond earring lost in the attack. Apparently, an employee of the club had promised to return it, but Knight never got it back. If ever there were a way to make getting shot and having your femur shattered suck more, it’s losing your fancy earring on the same night. [Guardian UK]
