Unsurprisingly, T.I.’s first post-prison interview was not conducted by an actual writer asking potentially probing personal questions, but instead set up by Atlantic Records and posted to the rapper’s personal YouTube page. He does respond to questions we actually want to know the answer to, though, saying he didn’t write a lot in jail because he “didn’t get a lot of time to it was a lot of activity around me, so I wasn’t really motivated to create.” Activity? What the hell does that mean?! We have no idea, but it sounds terrifying. T.I.’s never really shown that he has a sense of humor — his appeal’s largely grounded in the detached-menace vibe he gives off — but he seems particularly dour and intense here. Perhaps another reminder that the affect of his prison sentence goes beyond the actual time he spent behind bars.
