Party Lines Slideshow: Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, and Liza at the Sex and the City 2 Premiere

Sets and clothing weren’t the only things Warner Bros. splurged on for Sex and the City 2: Last night the movie had its world premiere at Radio City Music Hall, and we haven’t seen such a splashy event in quite a while. The carpet at the premiere was not red, but powder blue. The crystal chandeliers strung overhead along the block-long press line were an extravagance not only because they were, you know, crystal chandeliers, but also because it was still daylight by the time the screening started. The four leading ladies lived up to the occasion, all dressed to the nines in floor-length gowns. When the screening finally began, a good hour late, SJP took the mike, and said, “Hello, New York!” to cheers and whistles. “On behalf of our beloved cast we want to welcome you to the world premiere — in New York City — of Sex and the City, here at home, where we were born. It is its rightful birthplace, and I can’t think of a better place to send us on our way across the globe. So thank you very much, and I really, really, really hope you have a good time tonight.” Click through our Party Lines slideshow for more celebrity quotes.
