Sex and the City 2 Poised to Earn More Than First Film

Proving that absolutely horrendous reviews mean little to nothing when up against the juggernaut that is Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City 2 managed to earn more in its initial opening of midnight shows than its predecessor amassed. Playing in about 2,000 theaters at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, the sequel made about $3 million, 20 percent more than the first film made. Sex and the City earned $62.6 million in its first four days when it was released Memorial Day weekend in 2008; and it would appear that, despite what they may say, people are still hungry for Sex two years later.
