Turns Out Ryan Adams Wasn’t Slacking in 2006 After All

From 2000, when he released his solo debut Heartbreaker, to 2008, Ryan Adams released at least an album a year (he managed three in 2005) … except for 2006. But it turns out he wasn’t off drinking mai tais in Acapulco that year: His upcoming release, Orion, which Adams just announced will be out May 24, was actually recorded four years ago. The statement on Adams’s website reads, “Recorded in 2006, ORION is Ryan Adams’ first fully-realized sci-fi metal concept album.” The streak goes unbroken! Also, it is unsurprising that it’s taken him this long to work up the nerve to release a sci-fi metal concept album. [Brooklyn Vegan]
