Weinsteins’ Miramax Deal Done In by Lowball Bid

Curious about how the Weinstein brothers' bid for Miramax collapsed last week? Mike Fleming reports that as their Ron Burkle–backed deal worth about $625 million was nearing completion, Burkle lowered his bid to $575 million, prompting Disney to leave the table. If the Gores brothers, who'd previously made an offer of $550 million, don't up their bid by another $50 million, Disney may yet go back to the Weinsteins (barring any last-minute offers by the Jonas, Smothers, or Wayans brothers).
