We’re One Craig Finn Impersonation Away From a Trend

Sound of the City today points our attention to both Ben Ratliff’s review of the Hold Steady’s Heaven Is Whenever in the Times, written in faux–Craig Finn style, as well as the FakeCraigFinn Twitter, dedicated full time to satirizing Finn’s distinctive style. It’s a little irritating because we’ve been making this joke for awhile, and neither Ratliff nor the impostor seem to have a great handle on it. Then again, we just tried doing one, and this is the best we came up with: “She came into the hardware store drinking gin from a jam jar / then things got pretty screwy.” What you got?
