Alan Moore Quits Damon Albarn Opera

"I should dash cold water on anybody's dreams of this Doctor Dee opera with Damon Albarn," says famously agreeable comic-book writer Alan Moore of the project he was writing with the Gorillaz leader (which you first read about here). "It didn't work out shall we say." Moore, who was working without a contract on the opera, says he'd asked Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlitt for some Gorillaz artwork to feature in his new magazine, and even extended their deadline to accommodate their busy schedules, but the pair pulled out claiming they were overcommitted — "so actually I decided I had too many commitments as well." This Vulture editor would be happy to personally draw a few monkeys for Mr. Moore's magazine if it meant he'd reconsider. [io9 via NME]
