Nielsen Report: Yep, Music Industry Doing Terribly

Billboard has the numbers from a state-of-the-music-industry report the fine folks at Nielsen presented at the NARM Conference last month, and they are surprisingly promising ... just kidding, they're terrible! In 2009, the total number of new releases decreased, the average second-week sales fade increased to 62.8 percent, only 771 new albums managed to crack 5,000 copies, and only twelve new albums sold over a million. On the plus side, we hear the cream-cheese spread at NARM was awesome this year. []
