A.R. Rahman’s Light Show Too Much for Detroit

Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire composer A.R. Rahman's FX-enhanced Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour successfully dazzled audiences in New York and Chicago. Disaster struck, though, when he attempted to do the same in Motor City — a heavy piece of lighting equipment proved too much for the Pontiac Silverdome's infrastructure, which collapsed during the setup for Sunday's show, destroying part of the stage and leaving crew members with minor injuries. Rahman has canceled postponed the rest of his U.S. dates, though concerts scheduled in Britain and other countries with non-collapsing infrastructure are expected to happen as planned. [LAT]
