James Franco Has Kirk and Spock Make Out for Art

On June 23, everyone’s favorite soap-opera actor, James Franco, will open his first solo art show, “The Dangerous Book Four Boys,” in lower Manhattan. What can you expect to find in the multimedia exhibition? Its major theme is teenage “sexual confusion.” Franco explains, “I feel like shows or films that deal with kids, they’re playing to all of these sexual feelings that you have at that age, but they don’t fully admit to it. So I kind of try to draw that out.” More specifically, among other installations, there will be home-movie footage, short films that “focus on demolition, showing burning or bullet-riddled structures like a plastic toy home or a large wooden rocker,” and, likely best of all, a piece that “explores a romantic encounter between Star Trek characters Spock and James T. Kirk.” [WSJ]
