Cherry Jones Pulls Herself Out of Emmy Race

After winning the Emmy last year for best supporting actress in a drama, 24’s Cherry Jones is pulling a Heigl and withdrawing her name from consideration for the award. While her reps have remained silent on the decision, Jones has said previously that she felt producers didn’t map out a clear story arc for her this season. And the producers seemed to agree: After the series finale, 24’s executive producer told Entertainment Weekly, “There was some other mid-season purpose for [Jones], but I can’t remember. But even in the beginning, I told her I didn’t have much of a part for her.” With that stirring support, we can't exactly blame Jones for wanting to disassociate from the show.
