Elf, the 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell as one of Santa’s little helpers, is being made into a musical, intended to have a limited run on Broadway starting in November and running through the holiday season. Everyone involved has experience adapting movies into musicals: Thomas Meehan, who is co-writing the book, worked on The Producers and Hairspray; the music and lyrics are from the team behind the Broadway adaptation of The Wedding Singer, though they are probably hoping Elf goes over a little better than that did.
