Samuel L. Jackson to Probably Play MLK on Broadway

Last month, Samuel L. Jackson sneaked into midtown for a secret reading for the lead role in The Mountaintop — a new play about Martin Luther King Jr. on the eve of his assassination — with an eye on a Broadway opening this fall. Michael Riedel says today that it looks like Jackson's in: "He was really good, and he likes the play a lot," says a source. "We're pretty sure we've got him." Producers are now looking for his co-star (to play a chambermaid who visits King in his hotel room) and under consideration are Caroline or Change's Anika Noni Rose and Halle Berry. Awesome. [NYP]
