U.S. Government Gets Serious About Piracy

On a day when President Obama was no doubt somewhat preoccupied, the vice-president announced the administration’s first-ever strategic plan to combat piracy of movies, TV shows, video games, and other products. "To state it very bluntly, piracy hurts," Joe Biden, flanked by Attorney General Eric Holder, said at a White House announcement. "It hurts our economy, our health, and our safety." Piracy reportedly costs the U.S. economy about $20.5 billion annually. Holder will be creating a task force, as well as hiring fifteen new assistant U.S. attorneys and twenty FBI special agents dedicated to the effort. Watch out, Ashton! [HR via Movieline]
