Brad Pitt has agreed to star in the Marc Forster–directed adaptation of Max Brooks’s World War Z, set during the aftermath of a global war with the zombies. The book is structured as an oral history, with one U.N. officer going around the world to collect survivors’ stories; Pitt will play the officer. The film is slated for a summer 2012 release, positioning it to capitalize on any zombie-fever created by AMC’s forthcoming series Walking Dead, and setting it up for a showdown with the final installment of The Twilight Saga.
