Broken Social Scene Shuts New Pornographers Out of Canada’s Top Music Prize

Or at least that's what one would assume after seeing the shortlist for the Polaris Music Prize, which features Broken Social Scene — along with the Besnard Lakes, Caribou, Karkwa, Dan Mangan, Owen Pallett, Radio Radio, the Sadies, Shad, and Tegan and Sara — but not the New Pornographers, who did indeed put out a new album this year. Did BSS perhaps nab the designated "sprawling indie-rock collective" spot? And does this mean we finally get a BSS-NP feud? Please?! [Billboard]
