Comic-Con: Ruffalo and Whedon Confirmed for Avengers; Marvel Plans The Punisher

It's already been reported that Joss Whedon will direct Marvel's The Avengers and Mark Ruffalo will take Ed Norton's spot as the Hulk in the film, but the whole cast came out to confirm that very promising news and rev up anticipation at Comic-Con last night. Look at them! Scarlett! Samuel! Well, that was Marvel's successful message. Onstage, Robert Downey Jr. said, "Don't anybody stab me until I'm done talking," already joking about the Harry Potter fan stabbed at Comic-Con yesterday. Downey Jr. also said The Avengers will be "more ambitious" than Inception, even. Deserving director Joss Whedon (of Buffy!) said: “All my life I have had a dream. And it was not this good. I am going to blow it, just so you know.” Now that that's taken care of, Marvel announced it owns the rights to The Punisher again, and the studio will probably turn the comic series into an upcoming film.
