Industry Roundup: Molina, McConaughey

La La Land: Alfred Molina has joined Skeet Ulrich in NBC’s Law & Order spinoff, Law & Order: Los Angeles. Molina will play Deputy D.A. Morales and is all but assured this regular television gig will last longer than his previous one on 2002’s Bram and Alice, which - according to Wikipedia - lasted only four episodes. [Deadline]

Dream A Little Dream: Matthew McConaughey is “considering” starring opposite Hilary Swank in Dreams of a Dying Heart. Swank is set to play a solider in the film who returns home from a tour of duty to encounter “strange goings on.” Perhaps what’s giving McConaughey pause is the fact that he can’t figure out how a serious Hilary Swank film will give him a chance to take off his shirt. [Deadline]

WB Takes A Dare: Warner Bros. is close to making a deal on Dan Dare, a British film with Sam Worthington attached to star. Dare - a space fleet pilot - came onto the scene in the 1950s in a comic book, before the character later appeared on British radio and television programs. Worthington clearly has a thing for space-based franchises. [Variety]

Sticks And Stones: Dannah Phirman and Danielle Schnieder have been signed to adapt Todd Harris Goldman’s book Boys Are Stupid, Throw Rocks at Them. Apparently the script will include original music, as well - though they could probably just raid the catalogues of Pink, Avril Lavigne or Ke$ha and be just fine. [Variety]
