Intervention Actually Helps People

Of the 161 addicts who have appeared on Intervention, 130 are still sober. This recovery rate — 71 percent — is very, very high. What’s Intervention's secret? Resources and professionals! The show spends two weeks putting together a psychological profile of the addict, so they can send them to exactly the right treatment center, while also coaching the family on how to conduct an intervention. Once in rehab, which can cost between $50,000 to $120,000 (but is comped for the show), the producers insist participants stay for 90, as opposed to 28, days. Dr. Drew, are you listening?
