M.I.A.’s Hard L.A. Festival Is Canceled

Hard L.A. — the music festival scheduled for July 17 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park with performances from N.E.R.D., Die Antwoord, Flying Lotus, Rye Rye, and M.I.A. — has been canceled. It all has to do with heightened security concerns following last month’s Electric Daisy Carnival in L.A., where 226 injuries were reported and a 15-year-old died of a suspected overdose. Refunds are available, and tickets for the fest will now be valid for August 7’s Hard Summer Music Festival, which does not feature M.I.A. It’s completely out of her control, but the Hard L.A. cancellation isn’t a great look for M.I.A. coming as it does the same week of her album release, and shifts even more expectations to next weekend’s Hard NYC festival. No pressure! [Billboard]
