Spotify May Not Get to the U.S. Before the End of the Year

The folks behind much-heralded Swedish music-streaming site Spotify promised the service would be available in the U.S. by the end of 2010, but negotiations with labels have stalled, and the goal may not be reached. Boo! Basically, the majors aren't happy with Spotify's setup of offering free unlimited streaming with ads as a way to entice users to paid unlimited streaming with no ads. Seeing as that's pretty much the whole point of Spotify, negotiations "have reverted back to square one." Can't wait for the David Fincher movie about this! [Billboard.biz]
