YouTube Project Aims to Capture ‘Life in a Day’

Documentary director Kevin Macdonald and producer Ridley Scott are utilizing the power of YouTube for a project titled “Life in a Day.” The duo is asking people across the globe to shoot and upload unedited, nonfiction footage to YouTube on July 24, which they will use to make a “snapshot collage of one 24-hour period of human life.” Macdonald will sift through all of the submissions in order to create a full-length documentary, which he is hoping to debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January. YouTube will fly twenty of the “top submitters” to the premiere, if, that is, Macdonald is able to find twenty videos that aren’t of babies dancing, tweens singing Lady Gaga covers, or cats making cute faces.
