"Angry Birds" May Leap To Big Screen

Considering Hollywood has worked through practically every board game and video game, it shouldn’t be too surprising that they’ve now turned to the games you play in waiting rooms and on the subway (and, uh, lots of other times) for inspiration. Rovio, the creator of “Angry Birds,” the iPhone/iPad game which has been downloaded more than 6.5 million times, is looking to turn the game into a TV show or movie. The company's founders have been meeting with various studios over the past few weeks "weighing which ancillary offers to move forward with first." "Birds" requires players to use a slingshot to help animated birds destroy evil pigs responsible for stealing their eggs. While this might not necessarily shout "movie material," that certainly hasn't stopped the studios before. [Variety]
