Hollywood Embracing Sweden's Lisbeth Salander

According to a report from Deadline’s Nikki Finke, Noomi Rapace, who played Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has quickly become Hollywood’s newest sensation. Though the film was released in Sweden in 2009, it had a brief run in America in March, making Rapace’s performance eligible for this upcoming awards season. An Oscar publicist will soon be hired to push for a Best Actress nod for Rapace, with Marion Cotillard’s ascendancy in 2007 cited as a model for her campaign. Additionally, the actress is reportedly being courted for large-scale sequels such as Sherlock Holmes 2 and Mission Impossible 4, and she also recently met with directors like Brett Ratner, Ridley Scott and McG. It would appear Rooney Mara's got some big leather boots to fill. [Deadline]
